VIRTUOUS WOMAN

This piece was originally penciled on a bus ride from a Fayetteville NC visit to my then fiancé.

“Virtuous Woman” represents just that. A woman who prays, has a strong relationship with God and causes results.

The white hair was an idea I received from a favorite artist of mine Louis Smalls Jr. who gave me a critique of my sequential comic book pages in 1998.

The hair represents the glory of God shining through my wife, the white gown represents purity and glory the composition of the piece is reminiscent of late 800’s early 1900’s Art Nouveu artist Alphonse Mucha.

Unofficially part I in a three part series on the praying family “Virtuous Woman” is the catalyst for the following two pieces, “Intercessor” and “Watch and Pray.”

“Virtuous Woman” is a reminder to me of the reason I love my wife, her virtue and commitment to God steadies me when I lose focus.
